POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Director serves as the primary point of contact for clients, overseeing projects from acquisition through execution while managing an annual portfolio exceeding $100M. This role combines operational leadership with business development, ensuring successful project delivery and fostering long-term client relationships. Responsibilities include project administration, financial performance management (change management, reporting, billings, cash flow), schedule adherence, risk mitigation (legal, claims, safety, quality), team development, and cross-functional collaboration.
The position also plays a critical role in securing new business and expanding client relationships. Project Directors establish themselves as trusted advisors, leveraging strong project performance to drive repeat business and identify new opportunities. Success is measured by the ability to deliver exceptional project outcomes while actively contributing to revenue growth.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES People Development & Team Leadership
Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent; develop succession plans for key roles
Coordinate staffing assignments to build high-performing teams
Conduct performance reviews and implement training programs
Maintain visibility on job sites to support teams and resolve issues
Project Planning & Execution
Lead all phases of project delivery, including pursuit, preconstruction, and construction
Serve as primary client interface and manage relationships with owners, designers, and consultants
Oversee development and implementation of project execution and quality control plans
Review and approve contracts, change orders, and risk management strategies
Monitor financial performance, schedule compliance, and monthly project status reports
Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards across all projects
Sales & Client Engagement
Drive business development efforts to secure new projects and expand client accounts
Develop pursuit strategies, proposals, and presentations in collaboration with marketing teams
Identify new opportunities and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers
Achieve annual sales, revenue, and profitability goals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
18+ years of experience in construction operations and leadership
Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and large-scale projects
At least 10 years in an operations and sales leadership role
Data center project experience required
