Description: Position is hybrid in St. Louis 3 days/week

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:

Serve as the technical lead and mentor for developers and analysts within the Emerging Technologies team.

Partner with the Enterprise Architect to define technical strategy, architecture standards, and modernization initiatives.

Design, develop, and maintain integrations and applications using current technologies of .NET Core, Python, Talend, RESTful APIs, Oracle, and GCP.

Lead POCs and pilot projects for next-generation retail technologies.

Evaluate, recommend, and implement new frameworks, platforms, and methodologies that will future-proof Schnucks’ technology ecosystem.

Help define best practices for cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, testing automation, and API governance.

Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technology strategy with operational goals and customer experience initiatives.

Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of all systems and integrations.

Foster a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning across the team.

Experience Requirements: Required:

8+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or solution design role.

Strong experience with:

.NET Core / C#, Python application development

Talend or similar ETL/data integration platforms

RESTful API / Web Services design and development

Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)

Cloud platforms (preferably GCP)

Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through deployment, with continued ownership of ongoing production support and application maintenance.

Excellent communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.

Preferred / Future-Focused Experience: Candidates who stand out will bring working knowledge or strong interest in several of the following areas:

API management and GraphQL

AI/ML

IoT / Edge Computing

Modern data engineering

Serverless computing and cloud-native frameworks

Retail technology innovations (digital shelves, smart sensors, robotics, and intelligent store infrastructure)

Education Requirements:

Bachelors Degree preferred but NOT required
