About Grant Thornton
Grant Thornton is a leading professional services firm with over 5,000 people in the UK and a presence in 150 global markets. We drive ambitious growth, pioneer positive change and provide audit, tax and advisory services. Our inclusive culture, work‑life balance and real opportunities make us a true alternative for ambitious professionals. Role Overview
As an audit trainee you will connect with the issues our clients face, push ideas harder, and ask difficult questions to give clients the assurance they need. Our Audit and Assurance practice has more than 10 teams and over 50 partners, auditing over 8,000 entities each year – from FTSE and AIM listed groups to SMEs. Responsibilities
Support the planning, execution and review of audit engagements. Conduct audit tests, examine financial records and complete audit files. Attend stock‑takes and client meetings. Travel to client offices as required. Develop robust, market‑leading insights to help clients meet regulatory needs. Our Apprenticeship Programme
Our five‑year apprenticeship programme is designed to take you on a journey to professional qualification. Anyone without a degree can join. Here’s what you’ll experience during your first five years: Hands‑on experience across different audit aspects with a variety of clients. Early responsibility, taking ownership for challenging client work. Development of a strong internal and external network to learn from. Working closely with colleagues to provide robust challenge and market‑leading insights. Experience in examining financial records, carrying out audit tests, attending stock‑takes and completing audit files. Subject to restrictions, you may be required to spend time travelling to client offices. Structured on‑the‑job learning alongside a training programme. Time to study and revise for exams, supported by us all the way to your ACA professional qualification. Qualification Path
In the first two years you will work towards completing the Certificate in Finance Accounting and Business (CFAB). The next three years will focus on achieving ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) qualification. How We Work
Our work is trust‑based, driven by responsible people who prioritize the best interests of our firm and clients. Teams are flexible: you may work between offices, client sites, from home and from the trainees’ college locations. In‑person work is important and helps you learn more and build relationships. Study & Professional Qualification
As a trainee you will need to balance study and work. We provide study leave, but you’ll also study in your spare time. Completing a professional qualification is a substantial commitment and we support you every step of the way. Culture & Values
