Salary $19.00 per hour; Up to 4 Hours Weekly
Certifications / Licenses Required Massachusetts Class D Driver's License
Preferred Certifications American Red Cross Lifeguard Training; American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED; American Heart Association Basic First Aid; W.S.I. Preferred
Summary / Responsibilities The City of Chicopee’s Recreation Division is hiring a Lifeguard Instructor whose duties include:
Lifeguarding the main pool following the weekly schedule
Maintaining appearance and safety of pool and surrounding areas; ensuring proper use of rescue equipment and lifeguard station
Assisting in daily Learn‑to‑Swim program as assigned by the Instructor Guard
Cleaning pool and assisting Head Lifeguard
Testing pool chemicals (when requested by Instructor or Head Guard)
Written maintenance logs and participation in in‑service training
Qualifications
Minimum 6 months related experience in lifeguarding of pools or open water
General knowledge of pools and pool equipment
Massachusetts Class D Driver's License
High School Diploma / GED (preferred)
Completed 11th grade and age 16+ (required)
Preferred certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Y.M.C.A./American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED, American Heart Association Basic First Aid, W.S.I.
