The
Control Systems Technician
provides hands‑on technical support to control system projects and service teams. This role supports installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, and repair activities while developing foundational skills in controls, instrumentation, and automation. The technician works under the guidance of assigned project leads, supervisors, and company leadership and travels to client locations as required.
This role is an onsite position that can work out of any of the above locations.
What You Will Do Field & Technical Support
Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of control systems
Perform instrument loop checks and calibrations
Support maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of control systems
Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
Wire instruments and control panels according to drawings and specifications
Accurately document work performed and complete required service or project documentation
Practice procedures outlined in the company’s Quality Management System (QMS)
Controls & Systems Development
Develop a basic understanding of:
Control system design
Electrical and mechanical system design
Human‑Machine Interface (HMI) applications
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications
Information Technology (IT) systems, network infrastructure, and computer system design as related to control systems
Develop startup and troubleshooting skills with HMI and PLC applications
Read and interpret P&IDs and wiring diagrams
Customer Service & Professional Conduct
Communicate in an effective, positive, and proactive manner with customers
Follow customer‑specific site standards and procedures
Conduct business professionally at all times
Provide attentive, patient, and responsive customer support
Follow up consistently and honor customer commitments
Project Responsibilities
Complete assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and within budget
Understand assigned scope of work and escalate issues outside that scope to the project lead
Travel to client sites as required for project and service support
Education & Experience
Associate in Applied Science or Associate in Science in Engineering Technology, Computer Information Systems Technology, or related curriculum — or equivalent experience
Typically 0–3 years of relevant industry experience

Proficient with Microsoft operating systems and Office tools

Works safely at all times, never endangering self, others, or property
Understands and properly uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Varies based upon location
Work Authorization & Other Requirements
Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located
Valid driver’s license required
Fit for duty at all times
