$45,000-52,000 annually, depending on experience and education

Desired Start Date:

August 2026, with required attendance at teacher training conference in Hillsdale, MI, in June of 2026

Position Summary:

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND) is hiring an Upper School Math and Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Located in Brighton, CO, just 3 miles from I-25, Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver is a growing school, offering grades K-10 for the 26-27 school year with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year.

We seek teachers with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, warm rapport with students, clear communication with parents, and a can‑do attitude to join our team. This position will teach math and science classes for upper school, including Algebra II and high school Chemistry, for a total of 5 sections.

The ideal candidate will be organized and devoted to helping students grow in wisdom and virtue.

Essential Functions

Prepare unit and lesson plans for all courses in alignment with Hillsdale College's K12 Program Guide for each school year

Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods

Assign, collect, grade and return graded work in a timely manner

Proctor or supervise tests on the annual testing cycle (beginning of year, middle of year, end of year)

Continuously monitor student progress and self‑evaluate how best to support effective student learning

Proactively identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions

Collaborate with Students Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others

Communicate regularly, usually weekly, with parents

Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule

Participate in professional development as offered by ACAND and Hillsdale College's K12 Office

Maintain confidentiality in student records

Maintain a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners

Complete all required training and provide documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire date

Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations

Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a math or science field, or equivalent experience (Teaching license NOT required).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds

Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer

Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
