The Biostatistics Trainee position is part of Orion Pharma’s Phase 1 Program, a structured summer traineeship for university students. The purpose of the role is to support Orion’s Clinical Research & Development activities by contributing to statistical planning, analysis, and interpretation of clinical trial data. This aligns with Orion’s mission to develop innovative treatments that improve quality of life.
The trainee will work on real‑world clinical R&D projects, with opportunities to explore modern statistical methods such as Bayesian statistics and network meta‑analysis, and potentially align their work with a Master’s thesis.
The position reports to a Senior Biostatistician within Orion’s Clinical R&D team. Location can be Espoo, Turku, or Kuopio.
Your key responsibilities
Assist in the design and analysis of clinical trials across various development phases
Apply statistical methods to support decision‑making in clinical R&D
Explore and implement Bayesian approaches and network meta‑analysis techniques
Contribute to documentation and reporting of statistical analyses
Collaborate with biostatisticians, clinical scientists, data managers, and other stakeholders
Support development of statistical tools and workflows
Align project work with academic goals, such as a Master’s thesis

Qualifications
Ongoing Bachelor’s or early Master’s studies in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field
Basic understanding of Bayesian statistics and/or network meta‑analysis
Familiarity with statistical software such as R, SAS, or Python
Good communication skills in English
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Interest in applying statistical methods in pharmaceutical R&D
Self‑motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn
