As a Wegmans Corporate Security Officer, you will be part of the team of individuals who provide a safe environment throughout our distribution facility. This role is responsible for conducting foot and vehicle patrols which may include various temperatures and weather. Additionally, you will monitor access control and check vendors and truck drivers in and out of our facilities. Our Security Officers play a key role in maintaining the safety of the Wegmans grounds by being a highly trained security professional, skilled in key areas of Wegmans Asset Protection.
What You'll Do
Respond to emergency situations providing clear, calm, and decisive direction while providing medical care to the appropriate level of training/certification as needed
Manage access control; verify that vendors, contractors, and other visitors have a business purpose to be on site
Protect company property, corporate assets and the welfare and safety of employees, visitors and vendors while maintaining a strong emphasis on customer service
Proactively patrol the buildings and grounds of the complex and perform preliminary investigations involving safety and security events as necessary
Requirements
Current or former sworn law enforcement officer, U.S. military police, or federal law enforcement officer
Valid license to carry a firearm
Valid driver’s license
Conflict management and problem‑solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Sound judgement skills and ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure
Effective communication skills and ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
Ability to participate in and complete any required specialized training
Technical aptitude and ability to navigate through multiple programs and screens efficiently
CPR: Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – Red Cross/AHA: American Heart Association
Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms (Lethal Weapons Training Act) – Pennsylvania State Sheriff’s Office
EMT: Emergency Medical Technician – NREMT: National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
FAC: First Aid Certification – AHA: American Heart Association
AED: Automated External Defibrillator – Red Cross/AHA: American Heart Association
Work Environment Interactions may involve conflict or other stressful situations
Work includes driving, walking, standing, lifting and being alert for long periods
Light to medium effort work with some heavy effort tasks
Work environment involves exposure to various work environments, including temperature changes
May be exposed to various allergens
Extensive experience as a Trooper/Police Officer working road patrol or extensive experience in the United States Military in Special Operations or Military Law Enforcement with advanced tactical skills
