Brief Job Description
The Middle School ELA teacher will be responsible for teaching sixth, seventh and eighth grade ELA curriculum according to NYS Next Generation Learning Standards. The teacher must be willing to support the core values, vision, and mission of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for course(s) taught.
Creates lesson plans, aligned with current state and district standards.
Maintains a safe, organized classroom, which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration, and choice.
Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
Works to create and maintain a student-centered classroom where students are engaged participants in their own learning.
Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that incorporates mutual respect and provides cooperative learning opportunities.
Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating in a tactful, courteous, and confidential manner.
Attends and participates in staff meetings.
Qualifications: Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, New York provisional or permanent teaching certification in education preferred.

Ability to differentiate instruction and use data to do so
Effectively use technology in the classroom
Positive communication with parents, staff, and students
Salary $30,000-$35,000 depending on experience
