The Role Industrial Engineering/GMS Manager will work directly with production in implementing lean manufacturing systems. They will analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance. They will be responsible to lead standardized work for future products alongside the core team and help to launch extraordinary products. In steady state, they will drive continuous improvement projects.
What You'll Do The Industrial Engineering/GMS Manager is responsible for supervising plant industrial engineers, GMS coordinators, Continuous Improvement (CI) team and other roles supporting the function. The person in this position will team with management to develop hourly and salary staffing plans and lead actions to achieve productivity objectives and control labor costs. The selected individual will interact with production management daily regarding all matters related to staffing requirements as well as support development of direct and indirect labor targets with Accounting and Operational Leadership.
Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material, and personnel.
Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space.
Team with research and development, quality assurance and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
Work with HSE to ensure all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and always maintained.
Coach and teach the plant on GMS functions
Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies.
Work closely with all relevant departments to ensure support for all current and new product introductions.
Ensure vendors/subcontractors are manufacturing products according to product specifications.
Resolve and eliminate root causes and diminish occurrences in the manufacturing process.
Ensure that all manufacturing product specifications are developed and testing procedures are in place before starting up vendors/subcontractors.
Able to assist in reducing cost through re-engineering product/material.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineer or equivalent experience
5+ years of Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering experience or equivalent experience
3+ years leadership skills and ability to build and supervise teams through resolution of highly unusual and complex quality and build issues
Knowledge of Assembly Processing System (APS)

Compensation Salary range for this role is $140,100 - $186,700. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
