Job Overview
Thompson Industrials powered by Clean Harbors in North Prince George, VA is seeking an IS Technician to join our safety conscious team. The role will be active in the field, responsible for hazardous waste clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials. We seek highly qualified and motivated employees who will help continue and build on our success.
Work environment:
Warehouse, Manufacturing and Construction.
Travel:
TBD.
Work schedule:
Days, Nights.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following all policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
Hands‑on operation of manual and automated hydroblasting equipment.
Operate special equipment such as Ultra High‑Pressure pumps, hydroblasting, chemical cleaning equipment, vacuum trucks and cutting equipment.
Conduct visual inspections of cleaned surfaces to ensure conformance to company and customer expectations.
Perform routine and required maintenance on the unit and all peripherals, including industrial vacuuming equipment and disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
Perform routine maintenance on company equipment used on the job.
Assist with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Reliable transportation; a valid driver’s license preferred.
Ability to perform physical functions required by key responsibilities.
Background check, drug test and physical examination as part of the hiring process.
Valid driver license and compliance with company driving policy when operating company or personal vehicles for business.
OSHA certification may be required.
Knowledge of emergency equipment operation (e.g., fire extinguishers). May need to provide Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
Skills and Experience
Specific vocational preparation, classroom safety training, on‑the‑job training, and essential experience gained on other jobs.
English language proficiency sufficient to understand safety training and respond to instructions in emergency situations.
