Overview Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Student Success Advisors (SSAs) provide comprehensive academic, personal, career, and financial aid advisement to assigned EOP scholars. SSAs are responsible for actively monitoring their respective caseloads and supporting students through all phases of their collegiate experience. Through proactive guidance, individualized support, and continuous assessment, SSAs ensure that EOP scholars are maximizing their potential, maintaining academic progress, and achieving sustained student success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Full‑time, student‑facing advisor assisting EOP scholars in navigating key logistical and academic components of their Seton Hall University experience, including use of Compass and Banner, financial aid processes, first‑year course selection, registration procedures, and resolving registration holds.

Conducts bi‑weekly advising appointments with students placed on an Academic Action Plan (semester or cumulative GPA below 2.75) and monthly meetings with other students to provide ongoing academic monitoring and support.

Monitors and tracks students’ financial aid verification status at both the federal and state levels, working collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure timely and complete submission of required documentation.

Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date records and files for assigned caseloads and generates requested reports; records may include student IDs, names, Action Plan notes, GPAs, class year, retention data, and graduation outcomes.

Teaches a five‑to‑six‑week summer enrichment course (EXAC 1111) and a Fall semester section of University Life to contribute to students’ academic and transitional success.

Collaborates with students’ assigned Academic Advisors to keep students on track to graduate within the designated timeframe.

Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director or Associate Director of the Educational Opportunity Program.

Position requires regular in‑person engagement with students on campus.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or a closely related discipline.

Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in college‑level academic advising, career counseling, and/or financial aid advisement.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with opportunity or access programs, including but not limited to EOF, HEOP, TRIO, Upward Bound, or Student Support Services.

Salary Range $46,800 - $70,200
