Job Title
Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
Shift & Pay Night Shift 10:45pm - 7:15am, Part Time, $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, Monday - Friday with alternating weekends, 24 hours per week.
Summary
Provide practical Geriatric Nursing Assistant skills to residents following Fahrney-Keedy policies and procedures.
Assist nurses and supervisory staff in resident care on the units.
Check resident and room at least every two hours to ensure safe, timely care.
Maintain strong verbal and written communication with residents, family members, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
Perform all care tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Follow work assignments and schedules.
Cooperate with inter-departmental staff to ensure adequate nursing services.
Create and maintain a warm, personal, and calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
Report all complaints, injuries, and incidents promptly to the supervisor.
Assist residents with daily dental, bathing, dressing, hair, nail, and toileting functions.
Position or reposition bedfast residents every two hours.
Maintain intake and output records; document bowel and bladder functions.
Assist residents with weight, vital signs, and medication administration as instructed.
Transport residents to appointments, activities, and social programs as needed.
Follow safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical precautions.
Perform post‑mortem and caring duties for dying residents as required.
Administer post‑mortem care to the deceased resident as instructed.
Qualifications & Certification
Must be a Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant in accordance with the laws of the state.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age‑related needs of residents.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions.
Must possess the ability to handle residents tactfully and maintain a cheerful, enthusiastic disposition.
Must be willing to seek and incorporate new methods and principles into nursing practice.
Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Physical & Sensory Requirements
Must lift, pull, move, and/or carry a minimum of 50 feet and lift to a minimum height of 5 feet.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must see, hear, or use prosthetics that enable senses to function adequately to meet job requirements.
Must not have weight‑lifting restriction; may assist in evacuation during emergencies.
