Job Description Summary Service Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage repair and maintenance of company-owned and customer equipment, organizing yard status (Ready to Rent, Returned, Down).
Prepare work schedules and handle service calls to meet customer needs and ensure equipment availability.
Order and maintain parts supplies.
Provide training and assistance to staff mechanics.
Work with equipment vendors to learn maintenance requirements and capabilities of new inventory.
Evaluate equipment after repairs, maintenance, or safety checks.
Document equipment status before and after rental.
Handle customer complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.
Promote safety awareness and perform quality control checks.
Maintain organized equipment service records.
Create, update, close, and bill work orders.
File warranty claims promptly.
Commission new equipment and perform parts inventory.
Handle disposal of solid and hazardous material waste (batteries, used oil & filters, antifreeze, wash sludge).
Prepare reports on service status, fleet condition, work orders, warranty claims, inventory, financial trends, and department performance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Extensive experience with repair and maintenance of self-propelled platforms and lifts.
Knowledge of work planning, scheduling, and supervisory activities.
Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements.
Clear perspective on maintenance and repair challenges in the industry.
Planning and management experience.
Computer literacy and reporting experience.
Inventory management experience.
Physical Demands Roles require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors as needed.
