Job Description Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, establish and maintain a safe and clean environment, and direct and supervise all functions for the department. Support day‑to‑day grocery operations, execute sales promotions, manage inventory, enforce food safety, and ensure compliance with all related regulations.
Responsibilities
Promote trust and respect among associates.
Communicate company, department, and job‑specific information to associates.
Collaborate with associates, promote teamwork to achieve company/store goals.
Set departmental performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
Train and develop associates on job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department, respond to questions, make suggestions, and offer product samples.
Inform customers of grocery specials and stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
Monitor and control expenses for the department.
Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget and profit & loss reviews.
Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspects equipment for preventive maintenance; notify appropriate department or store manager.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks or issues, including robbery, theft or fraud.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Effective communication skills.
Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Desired Qualifications
High school education or equivalent preferred.
Management experience preferred.
Grocery experience.
Retail experience.
