The Team
General Motors is hiring a Plant IT Manager, Site Support Analyst to lead IT operations for Factory Zero Hamtramck, with additional responsibility for the Romulus Propulsion and Brownstown Battery Assembly facilities. This role is part of GM’s U.S. Manufacturing IT Site Operations organization, supporting the digital backbone of GM’s electric vehicle and battery production.
The Role This is a senior, hands‑on leadership position responsible for the stability, performance, and security of all onsite IT services across multiple manufacturing sites. You will provide technical leadership, operational oversight, and mentoring to IT teams supporting plant operations, manufacturing systems, and end‑user technologies.
You will serve as the primary IT leader for the plants, ensuring that infrastructure, applications, and support services operate reliably 24/7. You will work closely with plant leadership, manufacturing teams, and GM’s centralized IT organizations to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure technology solutions that keep production running.
WhatYou’llDo
Lead a multi‑site IT support team providing end‑to‑end coverage across applications, servers, storage, networks, end‑user devices, and manufacturing systems
Deliver 24/7 onsite IT operations for Factory Zero, Romulus, and Brownstown, ensuring maximum uptime for plant production
Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for plant leadership and centralized IT teams (Applications, Infrastructure, Networks, End‑User Computing, Deployment)
Oversee incident triage, root‑cause analysis, and resolution to minimize operational disruption
Plan and execute IT changes, upgrades, and deployments aligned to plant schedules and production priorities
Manage service request lifecycles and SLAs, ensuring consistent delivery and performance
Lead data center and hosting operations, including virtual and physical environments
Own device lifecycle management for desktops, laptops, scanners, radios, tablets, printers, and mobile devices
Support manufacturing launches and major production events, ensuring IT readiness
Coordinate IT project delivery across cross‑functional teams
Oversee client patching, security compliance, and vulnerability remediation
Provide IT support for Just‑In‑Time (JIT) supplier operations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in IT, Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments
Strong background in LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and support
CCNA or equivalent networking certification
Advanced troubleshooting skills for PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, tablets, and network connectivity
Strong Windows client and peripheral support experience
Hands‑on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points
Solid knowledge of Layer 1–4 networking, switching, and routing
Experience with VLANs, NAT/PAT, VPNs, IPSec, and TCP/IP
Experience supporting data, voice, and video services
Strong understanding of IT security controls, tools, and best practices
Experience using networking and diagnostic tools to resolve complex issues
People & Leadership Skills
Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
Ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical teams
Skilled at building strong partnerships with plant leadership, operations, and centralized IT teams
Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, mission‑critical manufacturing environments
