McCall Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. is hiring Fiber Splicing Technicians for work in the southeast (NC, SC, GA). This position will require weekly travel M-F. Current work is in Georgia. Responsibilities
Ability to read prints and understand the fiber optic color code to install and test fiber cable in a variety of environments (underground, aerial). Ability to use fiber fusion splicing machines (including a mass fusion splicing machine) and operate a variety of different OTDR and power meters. Ability to place both aerial and underground splice closures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables. Perform testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLs. Record and document testing per customer specifications. Bond and ground fibers according to client specifications. Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times and adhere to safety practices and procedures. Additional responsibilities as directed by the Foreman/Construction Manager. Note
McCall-Thomas Engineering has contracts with several utilities in neighboring states to provide storm damage assessment support in the event of severe weather. Our Electric division employees are required to be available to travel for our Storm Damage Assessment response team when called, either as a Driver or as an Assessor. This may be discussed further in an interview. What Will You Need
Ability to work in the US without sponsorship High school diploma or GED Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Physical ability to maneuver/work from ladder and bucket Ability to travel/overnight stays Previous fiber PON splicing experience Minimum of 3 years splicing FTTH large distribution and trunk fiber experience Splice Ribbon Fiber experience a plus What We Offer
