We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible with a motivated professional who brings strong supervisory skills and a passion for serving the veteran community. **Purpose of the position:**
The purpose of this position is to provide direct service and supervision for the Veterans Service Department to assure timely and accurate service delivery to Buncombe County Veterans.**Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire):**Graduation from a four-year college or university and three (3) years of experience in personnel, budgeting, research, or administrative management, preferably involving participation in the planning and management of a business or governmental program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Additional Training and Experience:**Applicant must be an honorably discharged veteran who served on active duty in the armed forces during the period specified in Section 101, Title 38, U. S. C., and as required for membership in certain veterans’ organizations. This requirement authorizes Veterans Service Officer employees to examine the Veteran Military files which are classified confidential and does not imply knowledge and skills needed for performance of work.**License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:**Maintain accreditation as a Veterans Service Officer through the NCCVSO; maintain accreditation through the American Legion**Supervisory/Leadership Responsibilities:**Supervise a group of employees with responsibility for assignment and flow of work,
employee development, appraisal, and eliminating ordinary difficulties.
