Job Summary Drive a school bus along the assigned route or other designated assignments while complying with all Federal, State, and District regulations. Manage the conduct of passengers and ensure the safety of the vehicle and its occupants.

Responsibilities

Transport passengers from home to school, from school to school, and from school to home safely and on time, regardless of weather.

Perform pre‑inspection of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Educate students on bus rules, enforce district policies regarding student discipline, maintain good student relations, and report disciplinary issues to appropriate school administrators.

Assist passengers—especially disabled students—entering and exiting the bus and during transportation, and while crossing streets.

Inspect all safety equipment on the vehicle to ensure compliance with Colorado Department of Transportation guidelines and district policies.

Complete route and trip documentation, including daily reports, incident reports, emergency reports, respect‑misconduct reports, and detailed route instructions.

Submit work requests to Fleet Services for vehicle repairs.

Maintain correct fuel and other fluid levels in the vehicle.

Prevent the spread of contagious bacteria by manually washing and disinfecting the bus exterior and interior.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Participate in focus groups and transportation committees and assist in training other drivers.

Attend in‑service training sessions and complete annual written and driving tests to maintain skills and comply with commercial license certification and district and state requirements.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

0–2 years of experience driving a bus or truck (preferred).

First Aid, CPR, and nonviolent crisis intervention training required within 90 days of hire.

Experience operating a school bus or large equipment, special needs equipment, and bus wash equipment preferred.

Completion of Department of Transportation physical and drug & alcohol screening required.

Commercial Driver’s License and Class “B” license with P2S endorsement preferred.

Ability to promote and follow district policies and procedures, communicate effectively with diverse populations, follow safety rules, and report unsafe conditions.

Criminal background check and district fingerprinting required.

Pay Hourly Pay Rate:

$22.93+ (salary placement is based on experience).
