Overview
The Clerk receives immediate supervision from the Department Secretary but reports to the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing. The Clerk is responsible for supporting the department through various clerical functions. The Clerk participates in departmental and institutional functions as appropriate. This is a part-time, temporary position Responsibilities
Answer phone Pick up & distribute mail Copying Filing Assists with registration process under Department Secretary's direction Creates and maintains academic files for nursing and surgical technology students Assists with special projects for the department Handles inquiries regarding the nursing and surgical technology program Coordinates workflow with appropriate college departments Provides office coverage in the absence of the Department Secretary Creates and maintains statistics spreadsheet and scholarships excel spreadsheets Attend support staff meetings Advisement to prospective nursing students Additional duties as assigned by Department Secretary or Department Chairperson Adheres to the College Code of Conduct Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college Commits to professional growth, which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of computer equipment/software including operation, instructional applications and routine maintenance Evidence of a team-centered approach to problem-solving Willingness to serve students, the department and the college through activities Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus Awareness and understanding of MCC's diverse student population Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with student computer information systems (Banner) Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skills Commitment to service at the institution Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently Additional Information
Salary:
$18.79 / hour Hours:
Monday - Friday, Flexible, 15-25 hours per week depending on needs of the department Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State : Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.
