Hourly Pay: D.O.E. Tech I $22.12 - $25.60 or Tech II $24.33 - $28.16

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES The Parks & Stormwater Technician I performs entry‑level technical duties related to the Town’s parks, trails, open spaces, and stormwater infrastructure. Maintains public infrastructure system including parks, trails, building grounds, and rights‑of‑way landscaping, as well as several program areas, including snow and ice control and special event support services and operations. Operates light equipment (mowers, trimmers, hand tools, etc.). Assists with irrigation system operations and minor repairs. The Technician performs custodial and facility upkeep tasks (trash removal, restrooms, graffiti cleanup, etc.). The Parks & Stormwater Technician II independently maintains turf, trees, and landscaped areas, including pesticide/herbicide application. Operates medium to heavy equipment (tractors, loaders, backhoes, plows, etc.). Is a Certified Playground Maintenance Technician (CPMT) per CPSI Standards. Employees are required to perform duties consistent with the Town of Severance’s TOWN PRIDE values and Equal Opportunity Employment policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs snow removal activities either by hand, with small equipment, or heavy equipment as assigned.

Perform a variety of duties that require knowledge of the use and wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Mix chemicals utilized in treatment processes.

Perform custodial and facility upkeep tasks such as trash removal, restroom maintenance, graffiti cleanup, etc.

Assists in the cleaning and organization of the shop area.

Must be able to work on‑call schedule as assigned.

Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.

Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of water throughout the system.

Participate in safety training and maintain compliance with Town standards.

Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Participates in the safety program to include adhering to safety policies, observing and correcting safety hazards, and participating in safety‑related training.

Perform related duties and all other duties as assigned.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

Knowledge of the functions and servicing requirements of mechanical equipment and machinery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to perform moderate/heavy physical work, to lift 75 pounds, and to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, sit, ride, climb, bend, crawl, twist, reach, kneel, grasp, push, pull, and perform a variety of similar body movements.

Ability to talk and hear in person, by telephone, and by two‑way radio; ability to hear equipment and malfunctions.

Ability to see and read instructions, manuals, electric dials and gauges, and similar documents.

Possesses hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to perform mechanical and electrical repair, operate backhoes, use hand and power tools, and operate a vehicle.

JOB ENVIRONMENT

The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals; is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Responds to calls as needed; works weekends and holidays as required. Must be able to respond to calls within 30 minutes of notification.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays and be on‑call on a rotating basis.

Individuals with education/experience in natural sciences, skilled labor trades, or other related fields are encouraged to apply.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION This position is primarily working for Parks & Stormwater. Cross training and other duties may be assigned, such as:

Work in and around underground utilities.

Manual digging and excavating

Upkeep and cleaning of all Town facilities and restrooms.

Make repairs to and maintain Town buildings; perform janitorial work; set up for meetings; move furniture.

Assisting Utilities with meter reading and maintenance, service orders, conducting turn-offs and turn-ons of residential and commercial water services.

Assisting Utilities with the maintenance of sanitary sewer, water, and storm‑related items.

Assisting with utility locates.

Assisting in Town events preparation, operation, and breakdown.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must successfully pass a criminal background check and pre‑employment drug screen.

Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.

HOURS OF WORK

Regular working hours for this position are Monday‑Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and outside of regular work hours as necessary. Summer hours may apply (4‑day work week, 10‑hour shifts). On‑call rotation required.

Minimum Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

0–2 years relevant experience.

Valid Colorado Driver’s License with good driving record.

Tech I

Class B CDL (within 1 year)

Flagger Certification (within 1 year)

Confined Space Certification (within 1 year)

CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (within 1 year)

Tech II Required Certifications

All Tech I Certs, plus

Class B CDL or higher

Pesticide Public Applicator Certification

Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
