What your job will be like
The Physics Division (Hall D) at Jefferson Lab invites applicants to fill a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position. The selected Postdoctoral Fellow will study novel AI/ML techniques to solve problems in hadron spectroscopy, and will contribute to the development and documentation of new amplitude analysis tools used by the GlueX collaboration to extract publishable results from experimental data. In this role you will:
Contribute to the physics output of the Hall D experiments and the GlueX collaboration in particular. Carry out the analysis of the data aiming at delivering publishable results. Explore and develop scientific directions and methods within the research project "Advanced methods for hybrid meson search". Use AI/ML techniques for amplitude analysis to tackle challenges in model selection and fit stability. Contribute to the development and documentation of new amplitude analysis tools, evaluate their performance on heterogeneous hardware (CPU, GPU), and make them available to the GlueX collaboration. Qualifications we require:
Education
Ph.D. in an appropriate area of experimental nuclear physics Education above the minimum may not be substituted for experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly in writing (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) and explain work to your supervisor and others in the group. Ability to interact well with the work group.
