Job Description
As a Production Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all extrusion machinery within the plant with the ability to inspect products as well as update logs and files in order to ensure quality of the finished product. Commands, start‑ups, runs, adjustments and troubleshooting of extrusion machinery to meet prescribed production standards by performing the following duties. What can you expect in a Production Technician role at Dura-Line?
Starts, inspects, tests, adjusts and suggests repairs to extruder, winder, die heads, hopper loader, color feeder, cutting equipment, and machine. Also performs minor repairs as qualified. Verifying maintenance work orders are put into the Maintsystem in a timely manner and notification / follow up with maintenance. Responsible for manufacturing of experimental and new products, as well as updating processing parameters in electronic database. Follows all safety requirements for the position and all company safety procedures. Perform routine, basic maintenance on equipment; for example, replacement of heater bands, clean vacuum tank filters, etc. Responsible for supporting 5S standards and on‑going revisions for production and verification all shifts are meeting all internal audit requirements. Perform and record measurements for trials for new products and determination of optimal process parameter settings and creation/management of Visual Setup Sheets. Fully competent in performing all aspects of the extrusion production lines and processes and serves as subject matter expert for other production employees. Trains and assists in the training of new employees, operators and leads on extrusion equipment and processes. Performs any other duties as assigned by Plant Management. What is in it for you? 2-3 years manufacturing experience. Your commitment to being a reliable and punctual team player. (Attendance on scheduled workdays is a must!) Your commitment to wearing gloves, eye protection, and steel toe boots always, and dust mask, earplugs, hard hats, and face shields as necessary. Strong mathematical skills: ability to perform basic calculations and measurements. Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workspace. Your ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance, as well as the ability to push and pull pipe coils. Your ability to work most of the time indoors on the plant floor, with heat, dust, and noise and work some of the time outdoors in any weather condition. Your ability to remain in a stationary, standing position 80-100% of the time. Must be able to squat, bend, or stoop as much as 25% of the time on some days. Proficiency in operating hand and pneumatic powered strapping tools, chains, slings, hooks, and keyboard on microprocessor equipment. Working knowledge of extruders, printers, reels, vacuum systems, chiller systems, resin systems, pullers, quality control standards, and product specifications is a plus. The compensation for this position will typically start at $28.00 an hour. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include short and long‑term incentive compensation.
