Overview The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Lineman/Linewoman. In this role, you will, under limited supervision, perform tasks associated with this position as well as other tasks as directed by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Using knowledge of principles and operation of transmission and distribution systems, overhead and underground distribution, and transmission construction and maintenance methods, perform tasks associated with the position.

Install and remove poles, towers, and structures.

Install and change transformers.

Install and maintain underground cable.

Abide by the principles of Safe Conduct of Research including being personally responsible for ensuring safe operations by raising safety concerns, using a questioning attitude, considering hazards for every task, and never stop learning.

Basic (or Required) Qualifications

Successful completion of a certified lineman apprenticeship.

A minimum of three years journeyman level lineman experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant lineman experience may be considered.

Knowledge of principles and operation of transmission and distribution systems, overhead and underground distribution and transmission construction and maintenance methods.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) within three months of employment.

Work will involve various physical requirements and certain working conditions and as such a post‑offer, pre‑hire physical will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Formal training programs.

Experience with interrupters.

Experience with SNC Vista Gear.

Bucket Rescue Training Certification.

This position will remain open for a minimum of 5 days after which it will close when a qualified candidate is identified and/or hired.
