Tuesday through Saturday

SALARY:

$18.00 - $24.00/per hour, DOE

Basic Functions Scale House Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing material into our facility. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, reliable and have the ability to multi‑task in a high‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy. This position is responsible for operating the weight scales, scale computer and PC Scale software, data entry, cashier duties and record keeping. Ensuring the safety of the customer and employees through observation of safety regulations, including ensuring customers follow facility traffic guidelines.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Provide prompt, courteous and professional service to all customers, vendors and employees, maintaining a friendly and service‑oriented approach.

Ensure all trucks or other incoming vehicles are properly positioned on the scale to capture accurate weight.

Accurately enter, calculate, and process cash/card payments through POS system, ensuring attention to detail and maintaining accurate records.

Screen incoming loads for any hazardous waste.

Direct customers and other incoming traffic safely to the tipping floors, ensuring proper flow and safety protocols.

Communicate with Spotters to ensure proper entry of data and coordinate the movement of trucks coming off the scales, confirming their intended destination.

Monitor scale systems, troubleshooting basic issues or reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.

Process outgoing commodity loads, verify correct material, obtain required photographs and place seal on trailer or container.

Other special projects, implementations, and tasks assigned.

Required and Preferred Qualifications (Skills, Education and Experience)

1 year of related work experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Bilingual: English/Spanish (strongly preferred)

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, data entry, and experience with PC Scale software is a plus

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to provide clear instructions to customers and drivers

Ability to work with little supervision, as part of a team or on your own

Ability to work rotating Saturdays as part of the normal work week, with a rotating weekly schedule and be available for overtime when required

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
