Overview
We are seeking a full-time Data Center Administrator 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing technology through the use of tools and scripting.
Essential Functions
Organizes, leads, and coordinates with other parts of IT to ensure components of overall system are managed and makes recommendations for component level improvements
Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s data center systems
Performs and evaluates cost analyses and vendor comparisons from small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations and measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
Continuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging datacenter systems and other datacenter technologies
Communicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changes
Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
Understands and avoids physical, space, power, and cooling constraints of datacenter and equipment closet systems
Ensures that all security requirements are met or exceeded, and appropriate levels of security access is monitored
Serves as a mentor to less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1)
Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems
Performs and plans minor version upgrades and identifies interdependencies in system and application components
Participates in roadmap planning for systems or applications
Organizes and leads meetings with users of IT systems and coordinates cross team non-project changes
Provides 24x7 on-call support
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Businessor technology related field
AND
a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
Demonstrates experience in successful implementation of technology solutions and demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
