Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CAD) Technician - Transportation Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Starting Salary Range: $60,000 -70,000
EFK Moen, LLC, is a civil engineering design consulting firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri with additional office locations in St. Charles, Missouri, Chicago and Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia. We are currently seeking a CAD Technician for a full-time position in our St. Louis, Missouri office. Our company offers a locally competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package.
Job Description Under the direction of a supervisor/mentor(s), the CAD Technician will perform CAD design services in a team-oriented environment. Project emphasis is transportation engineering design for both public and private sectors which range in scope from small to multimillion-dollar designs. Services are provided to a wide range of clients that include state DOTs and other governmental agencies – municipal, county and state.
Qualified applicants for this position should have an expressed interest in pursuing a career in transportation, bridge, and highway or traffic design.
Duties & Responsibilities
Create and modify high quality civil engineering drawings and exhibits; perform calculations and prepare maps; produce drawings and data for input into an Engineering Database and GIS
Apply advanced modeling techniques to develop and modify complex 2D and 3D models using a variety of CAD software programs
Work as part of a team to deliver quality design that adheres to the project budget and schedule
Responsible for ensuring that drawings are compliant with industry standards and provide quality control reviews on project drawings
Performs other job duties as assigned
Minimum Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field
Completion of at least one drafting class (either AutoCAD or Microstation software preferred)
Strong verbal, written and organizational skills
Proficiency with Excel and other general office software
Preferred Experience
Drafting experience using AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation
Hands‑on design plans preparation experience for public agency transportation projects
Grading or cross section experience using Civil 3D and/or Geopak SS2/SS4/ORD
Schematic drawing experience using Microsoft VISIO
Experience with terrain models or surfaces
Physical Qualifications
Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time
Ability to type and/or use a computer for extended periods of time
Sufficient visual ability to focus attention on extended use of electronic documents and software
