Job Summary
The Equipment Rental Manager is responsible for building and growing the rental business by developing strategic plans, identifying market opportunities, and securing new clients. Additionally, this role supports the Director of Operations in building the business in a professional, structured, and sustainable manner, ensuring alignment with the Company's long-term goals and operational standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Proactively identify, develop, and maintain client relationships to drive business growth and rental opportunities
Ensure that all rented equipment meets project specifications and is delivered on time to the required location
Work closely with clients to manage contracts, pricing, availability, and terms of service
Maintain accurate inventory records, rental agreements, service and communication logs, and return schedules for all rental assets
Work with operations and project teams to forecast equipment needs and ensure alignment with deployment timelines
Establish and enforce policies and procedures to ensure safe and compliant equipment use
Assist in developing contingency plans for equipment failure or delays
Track and analyze rental costs, utilization rates, and return on investment metrics to guide decision-making and improve performance
Prepare detailed reports on rental activity, costs, utilization, and contract performance
Support post-operation audits and reviews related to equipment usage
Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to inform pricing strategies and service differentiation
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Education
High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or equivalent trade school education
Experience
Prior experience in equipment rental coordination, logistics, procurement, or vendor management
Strong experience in building a customer loyalty program
Experience in construction, logistics, emergency response, or related fields preferred
Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and relevant safety and compliance regulations
Knowledge of heavy equipment, mobile infrastructure, power systems, and temporary site services
Experience coordinating high-volume equipment logistics in fast-paced environments
Ability to analyze rental contracts and service agreements, and negotiate service terms
Technical Skills
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
Experience using asset tracking, logistics, or rental management software
Soft Skills
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Self-motivated and results oriented
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and cross functionally with internal teams
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and adjust to changing project needs
Skilled in vendor negotiation and relationship management
Physical Requirements
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
Ability to stand, walk, or bend during field site visits
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to operate heavy equipment as required
Ability to withstand various environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, or humidity, depending on the location
Ability to wear PPE for extended periods of time, as required
Ability to work long and unpredictable hours
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including short notice travel. Travel includes local site travel or national travel depending on business needs.
