Overview The Snack Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the YMCA snack bar, ensuring a high level of customer service, safety, cleanliness, and efficient food service. This role involves managing staff, handling inventory, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and delivering an exceptional snack bar experience for all YMCA members and guests. The Snack Bar Manager will also work to meet or exceed revenue goals and maintain a welcoming, well‑organized environment.

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead snack bar staff: Train, schedule, and supervise snack bar attendants. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.

Customer service excellence: Ensure that all customers receive prompt, courteous, and professional service. Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a timely and positive manner.

Inventory management: Oversee the ordering, stocking, and organization of snack bar supplies, including food, beverages, and equipment. Maintain proper stock levels to meet demand and minimize waste.

Financial management: Monitor and control snack bar revenue, expenses, and budget. Ensure proper cash handling, register operation, and transaction accuracy. Implement strategies to maximize sales and meet revenue targets.

Health and safety compliance: Maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness of the snack bar area. Ensure staff are trained in proper food safety procedures.

Operational efficiency: Ensure smooth and efficient daily operations, including opening and closing the snack bar, setting up food preparation areas, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift.

Staff training and development: Provide training on customer service, safety, food handling, and product knowledge to snack bar staff. Promote a positive and supportive work environment.

Quality Control: Monitor product quality and presentation, ensuring all food and beverages are prepared and served in accordance with YMCA standards.

Event and program coordination: Collaborate with YMCA staff to support events and programs that may require food service or additional staffing. The Y: We're for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Other duties as assigned: Assist with other food service responsibilities, events, or administrative tasks as directed by the Aquatics Director.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Previous customer service experience, especially in food service, is preferred but not required.

Food Handler certification required within first 30 days of employment.

Mandated Reporter.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Must be able to handle cash and operate a point‑of‑sales system.

Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.

A positive, friendly attitude and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed during the summer season.

Posted Salary Range USD $16.22 – USD $16.22 /hr.
