LifeSpice Ingredients, a fast-growing, entrepreneurial, international food company has an opening for a R&D Mass Spectrometry Technician with experience operating a Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer in our Chicago River North location. The LifeSpice office is steps away from the CTA Brown/Purple line and easily accessible from all parts of Chicagoland – our location will take the stress out of your morning commute.
The R&D Mass Spectrometry Technician will spend the majority of their time running and operating our GC-Mass Spectrometer in our newly designed lab. This person will draw upon their background in analytical chemistry and food testing. This position will work independently with no direct reports. The R&D Mass Spectrometry Technician will report to our Director of Research & Development.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
Design and execute food testing utilizing various analytical instruments including GC-Mass Spectrometer Operate and maintain lab where GC-MS and other analytical equipment are located Ability to communicate and educate co-workers who do not have an analytical background Establish and maintain a library of reference spectra Make recommendations for new analytical methods and testing equipment Ability to work as part of a team and think big picture Perform other analytical tests and support the R&D and Quality Departments as needed What we are looking for in a Candidate:
Required knowledge and relevant working experience (hands on) with GC-Mass Spectrometer Operate and obtain actionable data from GC-MS testing Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a focus in Analytical Testing Background and experience in food, flavor analysis is preferred Ability to create reports and communicate findings 3+ years of hands-on analytical experience
