Associate Quality Engineer – Manufacturing
Department: Quality and Regulatory
Reports To: Quality and Regulatory Manager
Work location: Onsite
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
Position Summary The Associate Quality Engineer supports manufacturing quality activities by assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and process controls. This role focuses on data analysis, problem‑solving support, inspections, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives while gaining hands‑on experience in quality engineering practices within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Quality Support
Support operations production to ensure manufactured products meet quality standards and specifications
Assist with monitoring manufacturing processes and identifying quality trends or issues
Support first article inspections (FAI), process validations, and production start‑ups
Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues
Routinely inspect facilities to identify safety and health risks
Quality Systems & Documentation
Assist in maintaining quality management system (QMS) documentation and records
Support compliance with ISO 13485, IATF 16949, AS9100, FDA, or other applicable standards
Help prepare for and participate in internal and external audits
Assist in developing inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions
Assist in designing or purchasing measurement equipment to check product specifications relative to quality.
Corrective & Preventive Actions
Support root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why and Fishbone diagrams
Assist in initiating, tracking, and verifying corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Help investigate nonconforming material and customer complaints
Interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, customer, and vendors to resolve product quality issues.
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Collect, analyze, and report quality data and metrics
Support SPC activities and basic statistical analysis
Participate in continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, and rework
Supplier & Customer Support
Assist with supplier quality activities including inspections and corrective actions
Support customer quality requests and documentation as directed
Safety
Drive a culture of safety and accountability, leading by example and in collaboration with other leaders
Develop, deliver, and ensure completion of employee safety training, including health and safety protocols, emergency procedures, and proper use of PPE, tools, and machinery according to regulations and company policy
Support and hold leaders accountable for reporting incidents and following through with corrective action as needed
Understand and share OSHA Regulations and Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (Equivalent experience may be considered)
0–3 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering roles
Internship or co‑op experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Basic understanding of quality principles and manufacturing processes
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data analysis tools
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, and MSA
Experience with ERP and QMS software systems
Coursework or training in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
Work Environment
Manufacturing floor and office environment
Regular interaction with production operations
