USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Pinecroft is seeking a motivated RN PreOp to join our team. We have 6 OR rooms and 2 treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in General, GI, ENT, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Spine, Urology. Position requires weekdays only – no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.
Job Summary:
The PreOp RN is a Registered Nurse that provides quality patient care using the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organizational policies. The RN provides safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the perioperative services for all patient populations. The RN supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The RN reports to the Manager of Peri-operative Services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide attentive and efficient care to patients in the pre-operative phase
Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments, including patient history, medications, and allergies
Initiate IVs, administer medications, and ensure accurate pre-op documentation
Reinforce pre-operative instructions and provide emotional support to patients and families
Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs to ensure coordinated patient care
Maintain compliance with infection control, medication safety, and patient safety standards
Ensure all necessary pre-op documentation and consents are completed before surgery
Monitor and respond to any changes in patient condition prior to surgery

Required Skills: Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Must have at least 1-3 years' previous experience in PreOP/PACU
Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS
Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
