Come Join our Team! As a Health Service Technician at the Macon‑Bibb County Health Department, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals who support the mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgia residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities Under general supervision, provides compassionate and supportive patient care while assisting individuals in developing and strengthening daily living skills. Responsibilities may include taking vital signs, monitoring patient well‑being, and offering guidance that promotes safety, and overall quality of care.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Provide supportive and compassionate basic patient care

Assist patients/clients with developing and practicing daily living skills

Take and record vital signs accurately

Monitor patient well‑being and report concerns to appropriate staff

Promote safety, independence, and a positive care environment

Minimum Qualifications High School diploma/GED and six (6) months of experience in a related field; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Health Aide 1 (HCS020) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual, preferably Spanish

Ability to work in a team environment

Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently, multi‑task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

Phlebotomy experience or certification

Additional Information The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well‑being. The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15‑minute breaks or one 30‑minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials. The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre‑employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Relocation assistance is not provided.
