Senior SCADA Configuration Analyst

position!

The Energy Management Systems team at Puget Sound Energy is seeking a Senior SCADA Analyst, with an IT background, ideally with experience using the Aveva OASys DNA and OSI PI product suite in a utility environment. As a Gas SCADA Analyst, you will be part of a growing business offering that is at the nexus of energy management, advanced analytics, and cyber security. In this role, you will be a liaison between cross‑functional IT groups and the control room operators, helping to ensure reliable energy delivery to our customers. What You Will Do You will be responsible for supporting the multi‑site, high‑availability Gas SCADA system. You will ultimately assist in supporting and troubleshooting the operational SCADA environment as well as ensuring optimized monitoring and reporting for solid system reliability. You will engage with the customer, guide and lead them through solutions, and ultimately deliver successful projects.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of a mission‑critical, high‑availability IT monitoring and control system (SCADA)

Enhance and maintain all primary and peripheral systems that make up the Gas SCADA environment

Design, develop, deploy, and support applications to meet the needs of primary and secondary internal customers

Design and oversee the implementation of vendor and 3rd party supplied system enhancements/products to the mission‑critical system infrastructure

Collaborate with applicable parties to configure, deploy, and troubleshoot remote devices and systems of varying types and complexity using all available resources in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements

Collaborate with Security, Systems, and Database Administration staff to maximize the effectiveness of enhancement and maintenance efforts

Support and troubleshoot the operational SCADA environment as well as ensure optimized monitoring and system reliability reporting

Configure and maintain alarm management of SCADA system alarms for gas controllers, customers, and SCADA staff

Install and configure the PI System in redundant environments including but not limited to Interface Failover, PI Collective, Load‑Balanced AF Server, SQL AlwaysOn, Clustered Notifications and Analysis, Load‑Balanced PI Vision

Deploy and configure patches in multiple gas domains

Mentor and train lower‑level analysts

Configure and ensure that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate

Technologies/Applications in Scope: OASYS DNA Suites and interfaces

OSIsoft Pi Historian and interfaces

C Programming

MODBUS / DNP3 / Mercury / PI to PI

Microsoft Servers 2012 and above & SQL Server 2008 R2 and above

Communications and connectivity (MODBUS/DNP/Mercury/Pi to Pi Connections)

Coordinate work with vendors and contractors during project conception and implementation stages

Manage smaller projects or a project team from conception to completion

Ability to work as a team member, but can also work alone, unsupervised

Understanding of WAN and VPN concepts

Ability to build relationships with IT and non‑IT personnel

Able to provide on‑rotation, after‑hours (24x7) on‑call support

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field

5+ years of IT experience, including several years of systems development experience in the design and development of department‑wide or enterprise‑wide applications

Detailed understanding and experience: 5+ years hands‑on systems experience in one or more specialized technical requirements appropriate for the job (or other related functional area experience)

Possesses full technical knowledge of phases of software development life cycle

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office

Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. Demonstrated proficiency in the applied use of systems and process analysis tools. Full system life cycle experience, including development lifecycle methodologies

Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions

Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Excellent technical writing and system documentation skills

Strong analytical problem‑solving and conceptual skills

Demonstrated project management skills for smaller projects

Must be a “team player” able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems. Able to work with end‑user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions

Proactive, self‑motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer‑focused service attitude

Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi‑task

Ability to work with all levels of the organization, both technical and non‑technical

Compensation The pay range for this position is $103,100.00–$181,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goal‑based incentive bonuses.
