Responsibilities The Civil Investigator will work closely with Assistant United States Attorneys to investigate trends and leads, develop potential cases, and build a body of evidence for subpoenas, defendant engagement, and claim pursuit. The investigator will also support fraud matters in collaboration with the Office of Inspector General, particularly in large and complex investigations.

Provides professional investigations and collateral coverage to clarify and/or verify facts in Criminal/Civil/National Security investigations or similar matters.

Provides expert testimony in court cases, affidavits, Grand Jury, and related matters.

Travels in support of investigations.

Provides analysis of information and makes intelligence assessments for investigators.

Produces written reports and analysis of investigation/intelligence information.

Must have above average oral communication skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Additional experience can substitute for advanced degree.

Formalized training and certification within a specific investigative field.

Technical Competencies (Preferred)

Experience within a specific investigative field.

Strong web‑based research skills.

Experience using a variety of social media platforms, language translation software, open source intelligence (OSINT) techniques, and social media analytic tools.

High‑level competency with Microsoft Suite tools including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Experience with analytical software such as Palantir, I‑2 Analyst Notebook, Glimpse, or Pen‑Link.

Experience creating visuals such as graphs and charts for grand jury and trial preparation.

Ability to testify in court regarding investigative results.

Provides written reports and analysis of investigation/intelligence information.

Must have above average oral communication skills.

This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7‑year minimum background investigation. Some roles may require 10 years.

Target salary range: $79,140 – $91,010. This estimate represents the typical range based on experience and other factors.
