General Purpose The Materials Coordinator is responsible for managing the flow of materials required for pipe fabrication projects. This includes receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and tracking materials to ensure timely and accurate support of production schedules. The role works closely with procurement, planning, warehouse, and shop personnel to maintain inventory accuracy and optimize material availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Material Handling & Inventory

Receive and inspect incoming materials for quality and accuracy against purchase orders.

Organize and maintain inventory in designated storage or tool areas, ensuring proper labeling and traceability.

Issue materials to fabrication or site teams based on work orders and production schedules.

Monitor inventory levels and initiate restocking requests to avoid shortages or delays.

Coordination & Communication

Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of required materials.

Communicate material availability and shortages to project managers and shop supervisors.

Support kitting and staging materials for specific jobs or spools.

Documentation & Systems

Maintain accurate records of material receipts, transfers, and usage.

Update inventory management systems and ensure data integrity.

Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory audits.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure materials are stored and handled in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Support compliance with industry codes (e.g., ASME, ASTM) and internal procedures.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow and inventory control.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in materials coordination, preferably in a fabrication or industrial setting.

Familiarity with pipe materials, fittings, valves, and related components.

Proficiency in inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with ERP systems.

Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes.

Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
