SUMMARY & SCOPE
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain work log and complete required paperwork
Utilize electrical controls experience to perform repairs and scheduled work in an extrusion operation
Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
Must have 4+ years’ experience in electrical controls to include motor drives, temperature and pressure control system, and understanding of PLC principles
Strong knowledge of extrusion operations and support equipment to include blending and drying systems preferred.
Must have good understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical principles
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Daily expectations include the ability to work independently to identify causes of equipment failure and repair as needed
Must be able to follow direction to complete assigned tasks in a safe and productive manner
Must be able to work in a team environment or independently as situations dictate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. must be able to climb 30 ft ladder.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Extrusion facility that operates 24-7. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Proper PPE required such as; ear plugs, safety glasses and safety shoes.
