High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or Technical Certification or Post Secondary degree, preferred Basic tools, required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred All other certification as required by location, required Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder Drug Test, a DOT physical, a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities
Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision Replaces defective components as instructed Works unsupervised on most tasks Performs facility maintenance duties Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation Complies with all safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate guidelines Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents Other duties as required to support operations SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220) Completes OEM online diagnostic software courses as required by location fleet mix Important Note: Some positions require additional screening such as employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or customer-specific requirements.
