Immediately hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder.

Benefits

Hourly Pay: $34.00 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification earned (up to $700)

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter—four times per year

Sign‑On Bonus: $3,000 at 30 days and $3,000 at 90 days

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday (First Shift: Tuesday–Friday 5:00 am–1:30 pm; Saturday 7:00 am–3:30 pm)

Requirements

High‑school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or relevant technical certifications preferred

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines (including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work; diagnostics and repairs of AC, electrical systems; advanced repairs such as major engine work, diesel after‑treatment, fuel injection repairs)

Four (4) years or more of relevant work experience preferred

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

All other certifications required by location

Additional Requirements

Ability to perform all Tier‑3 tasks

Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance

Effective interpersonal communication skills

Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Availability to work shift work/weekends and on‑call duty as required

Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic

Proficiency in operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment

Minimum tool requirement met

Must road‑test vehicles as necessary

Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others

Driving Credentials

Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor‑vehicle records check; a road test; and/or badge or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)

Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location/fleet mix (within 365 days)

Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support

Access and use internal and external maintenance documents

Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable

Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solutions for roadside breakdowns

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task

Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance, repair procedures, and diagnostics

Coach and mentor other technicians

Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs

Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)

Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
