Purchasing Agent – Packaging & Supply Chain (Project Management)
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing vendor relationships and procurement activities related to compliant packaging across all in‑house cannabis brands, retail exit packaging, and deli‑style packaging. This role plays a critical part in supporting product development initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing costs, and maintaining reliable supply continuity across cultivation, manufacturing, and retail operations. The ideal candidate is highly detailed‑oriented, proactive, collaborative, and experienced in custom packaging procurement within a regulated environment. This role will work closely with multiple departments, including Operations, Compliance, Marketing, Finance, and Product Development. Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
Manage end‑to‑end purchasing activities for compliant cannabis packaging, including branded packaging, exit bags, and deli‑style packaging. Serve as the primary point of contact for packaging vendors, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication on pricing, lead times, MOQs, and specifications. Vet, onboard, and evaluate new suppliers to ensure quality, compliance, reliability, and cost competitiveness. Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure best value while maintaining quality and service standards. ERP, Purchasing & Order Management
Generate, track, and manage purchase orders within the company’s ERP system. Monitor order status, confirm delivery timelines, and proactively communicate updates to internal members of management. Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, quality issues, and invoicing in collaboration with vendors and internal teams. Maintain accurate purchasing records, item setup, and vendor data within the ERP system. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Product Development
Collaborate with Product Development, Marketing, Compliance, Operations, and Finance on new SKU launches and packaging changes. Support packaging selection and sourcing for new products, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with brand standards. Assist in managing timelines and dependencies for new product introductions. Planning, Budgeting & Cost Optimization
Support annual supply planning and budgeting initiatives related to packaging and indirect materials. Track spend and help identify opportunities for cost reduction, standardization, and efficiency improvements. Assist with initiatives aimed at reducing overall supply chain costs while maintaining service levels. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure all packaging meets Missouri cannabis regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within procurement and supply chain operations. Take initiative in identifying risks, supply constraints, and opportunities for process improvement. Skills & Competencies
