Assistant/Associate or Full Professor (T/TE) Physiology Position Highlights The Department of Physiology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson invites applications for multiple tenure‑eligible/tenured faculty positions. Particular interest is in assistant professor candidates, though all ranks are considered. The department seeks investigators conducting research in physiology, including computational or omics approaches to brain‑body connections, neurovascular disorders, hypertension, kidney disease, cardiopulmonary function, or molecular, cellular, and systems physiology integrated with genetics, epigenetics, or human research.

Faculty members serve as principal investigators on NIH grants (P01, U01, RC2, T32, R01) and other funding agencies. The department supports human subject, non‑human primate, rodent, and induced pluripotent stem cell research, with expertise in multi‑omics, big data, imaging, electrophysiology, and whole‑organ physiology. Programs such as Translational Multi‑Omics, VISP, PKHD, Hypertension Research, and MIND facilitate collaborative, team‑science research.

The department offers an undergraduate major in Physiology and Medical Sciences, providing a large student base and teaching opportunities. Faculty also contribute to campus‑wide graduate programs and medical education.

Core facilities and peer mentoring enhance research and professional development, especially for junior faculty.

Duties & Responsibilities

Establish, lead, and contribute to extramurally funded, highly impactful research programs

Participate in mentoring and teaching in alignment with interests and expertise

Participate in professional services in alignment with interests and expertise

Minimum Qualifications

A doctoral degree and postdoctoral training in physiology or a related discipline

A record of strong, impactful publications

Experience and accomplishments appropriate for the rank. Assistant professor applicants should have extramural research funding or demonstrate outstanding potential for obtaining extramural funding. Associate or full professor applicants should have strong extramural research funding
