About the role
Great Adventures (GA) serves rising Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten campers in a classroom-based setting. The GA Program Coordinator designs the daily schedule and activities, supervises GA staff, partners with families, and ensures a developmentally appropriate, joyful, and safe experience. This is a supervisory role that reports to the Camp Director. Responsibilities
Plan and own
the GA program (routines, centers, crafts, indoor/outdoor play, rest/quiet time) Lead GA operations: daily huddles, roles, coverage, breaks, and smooth transitions. Supervise, coach, and evaluate
GA Counselors and Junior Counselors; model positive guidance and SEL strategies. Ensure safety and compliance: ratios, attendance, toileting/restroom procedures, allergy protocols, sanitation, playground/classroom rules. Partner with Health Center, Inclusion, Transportation, and Site operations to support individual needs and logistics. Communicate professionally with families; maintain confidentiality; manage escalations and follow-up. Oversee documentation: incident/accident reports, behavior notes, and parent contacts. Manage materials and spaces: inventory, setup standards, and supply requests within budget/approval. Meet or exceed ACA practices and Virginia child day program licensing standards. Be punctual, prepared, and flexible; perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or designee. Understand that duties/schedules may be adjusted by the Camp Director (or designee) to meet program needs. Preferred Qualifications
Significant experience with early childhood groups (ages 4–6) in camp, school, or childcare. Strong staff leadership, behavior guidance, and family partnership skills. Pediatric
First Aid/CPR
(or able to obtain and maintain);
MAT
a plus. Organized systems thinker; calm, clear communicator; comfortable indoors/outdoors. Eligibility:
Must be
21+
by the first day of employment and able to pass required background/screening checks per School and Virginia regulations.
