Political Science Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool - East Kern, Tehachapi Salary: $67.00 hourly. Job Type: Temporary – Adjuncts. Job Number:21-22-00472. Location: Tehach, CA. Department: Social Science (SSCI).

Responsibilities Provide instruction in full range of Political Science courses at part-time, hourly faculty pool. Teach at multiple campus sites, day, evening, weekend, large classes, and distance learning using multiple teaching methodologies. Participate in student recruitment, articulation of transfer programs for the Science department. Maintain subject matter currency, develop and revise curriculum, and use computer and multimedia technology. Participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s in Political Science, Government, or International Relations; OR Bachelor's in any of the above

AND

Master’s in Economics, History, Public Administration, Social Science, Sociology, ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B.; OR Possession of a valid credential authorizing full-time teaching of Political Science at California Community College level (or equivalent). Candidates asserting equivalent qualifications must submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form with supporting documents. Demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Knowledge & Abilities Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues, promoting innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population. Work effectively with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals. Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities. Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain subject matter currency. Assess student learning outcomes. Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program. Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
