Salary: $67.00 Hourly | Job Type: Temporary -- Adjuncts | Job Number: FY21-22-00748 | Location: Edwards/California City/Tehachapi (Rising Scholars), CA

We are soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $67.00/hour; hourly rate may vary based on assignment type and Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

Representative Duties

Provide instruction in a full range of Political Science courses.

Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Science department.

Maintain subject matter currency; develop and revise curriculum.

Use computer and multimedia technology; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.

Teach using multiple methodologies at other campus sites; day, evening, or weekend classes; large classes; distance learning; and classes for incarcerated students.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in Political Science, Government, or International Relations; OR

Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master’s in Economics, History, Public Administration, Social Science, Sociology, any ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B.; OR

Possession of a valid credential authorizing full-time teaching of Political Science at the California Community College level; OR equivalent.

Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Knowledge & Abilities

Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an innovative, teaching, learning, and service environment.

Work with students of varying skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.

Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.

Participate in recruitment and articulation with local schools, colleges and universities.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Maintain subject matter currency.

Assess student learning outcomes.

Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies.

Commitment to the California community college mission.
