Overview
A research associate position is available to support molecular breeding approaches in blueberry and cranberry. This position is housed in the Department of Plant Biology at Rutgers University, New Jersey in the Vaccinium breeding program of Dr. Gina Sideli and will also work with Rutgers and USDA-ARS scientists at the Philip E. Marucci Center for Blueberry and Cranberry Research. Responsibilities
Work on multiple research projects including building and implementing genomic and bioinformatic pipelines; performing statistical associations between traits of interest and genotype data; analyzing multi‑environment trials; conducting genomic predictions of complex traits; and developing phenomics pipelines to enhance breeding. Supervise students in the lab and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists. Qualifications
PhD in plant breeding, genetics, or a related field plus postdoctoral or industry experience. Expertise in genomics, including genome‑wide association and selection, and bioinformatics for handling sequence data. Record of publishing peer‑reviewed manuscripts. Fluent in English (oral and written) and able to communicate ideas to colleagues and conference attendees. Ability to work independently and on a team, supervise students, and conduct breeding experiments using genomics, phenomics, and bioinformatics. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in small fruits or perennial crops and a strong background in small‑fruit or perennial‑crop breeding is preferred. Benefits
