This career relies on experience and knowledge of diesel to diagnosis problems and perform a variety of maintenance tasks including but not limited to, removing / replacing transmissions, repairing or rebuilding engines, and small maintenance items, such as oil changes or the repair of air leaks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have good general physical capabilities.
Must have the ability to do heavy lifting and carry various parts to the job site and install in place.
Ability to work from written instructions and customer specifications.
Must have the ability to work with little or no supervision in a safe manner.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and management.
Have the knowledge and ability to properly remove, repair and re-install all component parts of various engines.
Have the ability to operate various hand tools, and power equipment.
Have the ability to operate shop machinery such as : ratchets, drills, reamers, grinders, barring tools, bolt threaders, torque wrenches and other tools generally recognized as necessary for repairs.
Removes and re-installs oil and water pumps.
Removes and re-installs transmissions.
Modifies engines and component parts.
Sets and tests components on engines.
