Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Education Coordinator II (Nurse Educator II) builds on the Educational Coordinator I role which does all of the following: The Education Coordinator I serves as the educational resource for assigned service line. Assesses the educational needs of assigned area and provides in servicing, classes, on-line modules and other educations materials to achieve educational goals. Participates in meeting or exceeding goals for quality indicators. Oversees orientation for newly hired employees and annual skills review. Maintains competencies for assigned clinical staff. Serves as a mentor to frontline staff in innovation and research projects. Education Coordinators assigned to inpatient hospital departments(s) are responsible for compliance in CMS Quality Outcome and Safety Indicators and exceeding Magnet outcome indicator benchmarks. Based on service line, coordinates and participates in re-certification programs. In addition to the above, the Education Coordinator II leads teams in implementing changes aimed at improving patient outcomes. Guides staff in solving complex patient care problems and participates in planning for the growth and development of clinical staff and assigned departments. Performs other duties as assigned. HVI: The Education Coordinator II for Cardiothoracic Surgery must possess a high degree of organizational skills and acts as the lead for education for all Cardiac Surgeries. Ensures that practices are concurrent with hospital operational and strategic goals, policies, and guidelines as well as current best practice. Works in close collaboration with Cardiac Physicians, Intensivists, HVI Director, CCU/CVICU Director, Telemetry Director, CVOR Manager, and Registered Nurses to ensure effective and efficient program management. Responsible for training and orienting, developing competencies and mentoring the clinical trained and competent staff in the care of Cardiac Surgery Patients. Provides feedback to managers on clinical staff performance with recommendations for improvement. Assists with the development of policies and procedures, guidelines and delegation protocols and implantation of protocols, procedures and standardized procedures. Provides recommendations to order set development and the electronic medical record documentation. Qualifications

Education and Experience MSN required. Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience in specialty required. Experience with Power Point and presentation technology required. HVI: Minimum four (4) years experience with Cardiovascular Surgery. License Required Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California - Current and in good standing. License Preferred Certifications Required Specialty Certification required. BLS Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows: Critical Care, Telemetry, Brain and Stroke Unit: ACLS required Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS required. Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI): ACLS required. Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, NICU: NRP required Operating Room: CNOR required HVI: ACLS Certifications Preferred Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows: Emergency Department: AHA Instructor status and MICN preferred.
