Office Assistant – Platt Technical High School
Full‑time (40 hrs / week) Monday‑Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Location: Milford, CT.
Job Overview Provide general clerical support in the school’s administrative office. Key duties include typing, filing, correspondence, calendar management, inventory control, and serving as the first point of contact for students, parents, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Type a variety of written materials and enter data on computers, tablets, and other electronic equipment.
Compose routine correspondence and prepare routine reports.
Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors; answer and direct calls to other offices.
Maintain calendars of due dates, schedule recurring work, and initiate special clerical projects.
Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and billing invoices; maintain inventory and order supplies.
Order, receive, and check shipment materials; match invoices to purchase orders.
Maintain files, journals, or account ledgers; perform basic accounting functions such as posting expenses and preparing payment lists.
Apply office policies and state statutes to routine administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years general clerical work experience.
College training may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience (15 semester hours equal one‑half year of experience).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other office equipment.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of office procedures, proper telephone etiquette, and filing systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an educational setting.
Customer service, reception, or similar role requiring regular interpersonal communication with multiple stakeholders.
Multi‑tasking ability while maintaining organization and attention to detail.
Experience composed and edited letters and reports, reviewing correspondence for accuracy and completeness.
