The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) invites applicants to apply for a full-time Office Assistant position at Platt Technical High School in Milford, CT. This is a year‑round, Monday‑Friday position.

The Role Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
Typing a variety of materials in relation to other duties or as assigned.
Composing routine correspondence.
Greeting students, parents and visitors.
Answering and directing calls to other offices, such as the Guidance department.
Maintain calendars of due dates and initiate recurring work or special clerical projects accordingly.
Maintain inventory and order supplies.

For over 100 years, the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) has been the leading force in Career Technical Education (CTE) in the State of Connecticut, preparing students to meet the skilled workforce needs of employers. CTECS operates 17 diploma‑granting technical high schools, one technical education center, and two airframe mechanics and aircraft maintenance programs.
CTECS serves approximately 11,200 full‑time high‑school students across 31 in‑demand CTE programs, providing hands‑on training in state‑of‑the‑art classrooms designed to mirror real‑world workplaces. Students follow a unique schedule alternating between career and technical education and traditional academics, ensuring they graduate with the knowledge and skills needed for success. Graduates earn a Connecticut high‑school diploma, CTE certificate in their field of study, and multiple stackable credentials giving them the “competitive edge.” These credentials include, but are not limited to, state occupational licensure, national technical skill competency certifications, and industry‑recognized credentialing. Many students secure job placements before graduation, while others continue their education at colleges, universities, or registered apprenticeships.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Knowledge of office systems and procedures including proper telephone usage and filing.
Skills: interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; performing arithmetical computations.
Ability to: perform a full range of clerical tasks; operate office equipment including computers, tablets, and other electronic equipment; operate office suite software; schedule and prioritize workflow; read and interpret complex instructions.
Minimum Qualifications – General Experience Two (2) years of general clerical work experience.
Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one‑half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an educational setting.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including managing data, tracking work and scheduling meetings.
Experience in Customer Service, Reception, or a similar role requiring regular interpersonal communication with multiple stakeholders.
Experience with multi‑tasking while maintaining organization and attention to detail.
Experience composing and editing letters and reports, reviewing correspondence for accuracy and completeness.
Special Requirements Persons having responsibility for supervising or observing the behavior of inmates or custodial individuals will be required to possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification by the time of permanent appointment.
