Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate the activities of a survey field crew, providing guidance and training to junior technicians.
Oversee and conduct construction surveys and control network establishment.
Collect and record field data accurately using data collectors and field books.
Perform mathematical calculations and ensure proper reduction of field notes.
Maintain organized records of field notes, sketches, and data files.
Ensure survey equipment is in proper working condition through regular inspection and calibration.
Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to protect the survey team and other workers on-site.
Coordinate survey activities with project managers, project engineers, and superintendents.
Prepare and review survey reports, maps, and drawings for project documentation.
Ability to work independently and problem-solve in the field.
The duties described above are not inclusive. Additional duties may be permanently assigned or required from time to time due to the need to respond to customer needs and remain competitive in the marketplace.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
3+ Years as a Party Chief, with 5+ years in heavy civil/highway/bridge construction preferred
Expertise with Trimble SPS930 Total Station, TSC7, Siteworks, GPS base and rover usage and setups, machine control systems for help in setups with excavation crews.
Experience in Layouts of Walls, Bridges, Roadway, Underground.
Valid driver's license
Basic understanding of English to read and understand work instructions and safety information.
Must be able to follow directions.
Must be a team player.
Mechanical aptitude to perform daily inspections on grease truck and yellow iron equipment.
Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, sitting, squatting, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
Ability to manage stress.
Must be available for work 4:30am-7pm Monday through Saturdays
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to machines and chemicals at various times. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
